Development projects, rap song performance as Uhuru visits Kisii County
By Obar Mark

Dozens of Kisii residents formed a human wall around President Uhuru Kenyatta during his Wednesday visit to the county's only referral hospital.

President Uhuru's visit to Kisii County marks a turning point for the residents who are seeking to reconcile their past healthcare experiences with new medical services after the county launched brand new facilities.

After launching ultramodern facilities at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, the President preside over the ground-breaking ceremony of the Sh2.25 billion Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Centre which will be funded by Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and the Saudi Fund for Development.

"Congratulations on this great achievement. You are doing well," said President Uhuru after cutting the ribbon.

Just steps away, the President open a 100-body capacity mortuary with state-of-the-art cooling facility and a separate funeral parlour and parking for 100 vehicles, before joining Kisii pupils in performing a rap – dubbed 'Man-Ma'.

The rap song that praised the performance of Uhuru's government was also lased with a liberal dose of anecdotes and satire that left listeners in stitches.

Elated Uhuru then went ahead to embrace the lead-singer with a warm hug before proceeding to lay a foundation stone for a new mother and child facility which will be constructed at a cost of Sh150 million.

It is expected that Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga will join President Uhuru Kenyatta after the launch of the health projects.

This is the first time the three leaders pay a visit to the county together on a development tour since the August 2017 General Election.
