FIDA loses bid to be enjoined in case against Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu

18th February, 2019

The Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA and Nairobi lawyer Adrian Kamotho have lost their bid to be enjoined in the graft case against Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu. A five-judge bench led by Justice Helen Omondi dismissed their applications for failing to demonstrate to the court how they will be disadvantaged if they are not part of the suit. The judges, however, allowed the International Commission of Jurists Kenya chapter to be enjoined in the case on grounds of its neutrality and expertise in constitutional matters. Justice Philomena Mwilu is facing abuse of office, corruption, and evasion of tax charges.
