Kitui County Government accuses police of frustrating their efforts to conserve the environment

9th February, 2019

The County Government of Kitui has accused police in the Kanyonyoo Ap line of frustrating efforts by the county government led by governor Charity Ngilu to conserve the environment by banning charcoal burning and sand harvesting. This is after a police lorry belonging to the ap line was arrested yesterday ferrying sand from River Tyaa in Mwingi to the training school. While addressing the press at Mwingi after the lorry was nabbed, Kitui Cec for Environment John Makau said that it was least expected that the police would be the one frustrating efforts by Kitui Governor to curb sand harvesting which has ruined many rivers across the county.
