The Kenya Aviation workers union strike that was to take place tomorrow has been suspended after a sit?down attended by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, the union's secretary moss Ndiema, K.A.A managing director Johny Anderson and transport CS James Macharia. The aviation workers issued the strike notice in regard to the proposed public-private partnership between Kenya Airways and Kenya airports authority which in the view of the aviation workers would see most of them lose their jobs. However, transport CS James Macharia says the public-private partnership does not foresee any redundancy and will instead grow the number of aviation staff from 950 to over 3000. He also says that the concession is specific to JKIA and does not apply to any other airport currently managed by KAA.
