Kenyan nurses issue strike notice over unpaid allowances

30th January, 2019

Kenya national union of nurses has issued a five day strike notice over unpaid allowances. The nurses’ union says they will down tools beginning 4th and 11th February across 23 counties that have not complied with the November 2017 return to work formula. 22 counties among them Baringo and Kakamega have pledged to pay nurses service and uniform allowance. Only three counties have fully honoured and implemented the agreement namely Machakos, Mombasa and Migori. The union blames the salaries remuneration commission for misinforming the national and county governments leading to disagreement over the November 2017 agreement.
