Kenya still has a long way to go regarding the conservation of wetlands and the environment with just 5 percent of the total land mass in the country classified as wetlands. This surfaced during the world welands forum at the Michael Joseph centre in wetlands. The standard group is partnering with stakeholders such as NEMA, Safaricom and advocacy groups in the push for raising awareness on environmental conservation. The world wetlands day is marked every February 2nd globally.
