Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has accused his Education CEC Janet Muthoni-Okuo of complicity in the misappropriation of millions in funds meant for bursaries in the county.

At a press conference in Mombasa County, the governor acknowledged the resignation of Ouko who on Monday cited frustration and intimidation as the cause of her exit from the post.

Mr Sonko however said the CEC who said she wants to pursue other interests resigned when she could not account for the funds when probed.

Governor Sonko added that while he wishes her well in her future pursuits, investigations into the misappropriation are under way and that should she be found culpable, she will be held to account.
