Kariuki Ngari has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered of the Kenya subsidiary. Kariuki replaces Lamin Manjang who will now head stanchart Nigeria and be in?charge of the West African market. Kariuki brings 23 years of banking experience, having served more recently as group head, service quality in group retail banking. Prior to this, he was global head, retail distribution, head of consumer banking Kenya and east Africa, and regional head, retail banking, Africa. The changes at the bank come at a time when Kenya’s banking sector is battling with dimming profits which has been linked to the rate cap.
