Qatar Airways Airbus A320 landed at the Moi international airport Mombasa (MIAM) early today heralding the start of direct flight between the port city of Mombasa and the oil rich gulf state of Qatar. 

The aircraft landed to full water canon salute and carried 150 passengers. Mombasa deputy overnor, William Kingi described the inaugural flight as an early christmas for Mombasa and the entire coast region.
