A showdown is looming between public transport stakeholders and the government over the impending phasing out of the 14 seater matatus from major towns across the country. 

The leadership of the association of matatu operators, led by their chairperson, Jimal Ibrahim, now wants the government to rescind its decision on the non renewal of the road service licenses for the said vehicles within 72 hours.
