DPP Noordin Haji wants Parliament to enact law on state officers implicated in corruption

6th December, 2018

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has petitioned parliament to enact a law that will clearly state circumstances under which state officers implicated in corruption cases would be required to either step aside or be removed from office.  Noordin says government officers holding executive positions have in the past interfered with investigations for lack of clear laws.  At the same time, investigating agencies said the six month period allowed by courts to freeze assets of suspects believed to have benefitted from proceeds of crime is not enough to conclude investigations.
