Public accounts committee chairman Opiyo Wandayi, has decried the high wastage of public resources by county officials through foreign and domestic travels. a report released by the auditor general for the financial year 2016/2017 reveals that  2.28 billion shillings of domestic travels were unaccounted for whereas 386.7 million was wasted on foreign trips. lamu county has been put on the spotlight as the highest spenders on foreign travels whereas Kiambu county recorded the highest number of unsupported local expenditure. Wandayi was speaking during a review of the auditor general report on county assemblies organized by the national taxpayers association.
