The fight against contraband goods at the port of Mombasa has gained momentum through an initiative between, KPA, KRA and other government multi?agency
teams. The integration of scanners into a central command center at the customs house in Mombasa and the KRA headquarters in Nairobi has enabled the authority to balance demand for trade facilitation and security interests. Kenya revenue authority southern region coordinator Mr Nicholas Kinoti said in this month of October alone, the tax man intercepted 120 transactions of concealment of cargo at the port of Mombasa through the scanners.
