7th October, 2018

A standoff ensued at the family of former permanent secretary Philemon Mwaisaka during burial ceremony of his brother, after the provincial administration led by the assistant chief of Werugha tried to bar the family from burying the deceased. A heavy contingent of police was deployed at the event with the assistant chief claiming the burial site was in a forest.  Mwaisaka who is the elder brother to the deceased said the land in dispute belonged to the family. Taita Taveta governor Granton samboja had to intervene in the matter before the deceased was laid to rest.
