Thirteen people have been arraigned in court and charged with different malpractices related to the sale, resale and transportation of petroleum products. The suspects were apprehended during an inspection of liquefied petroleum gas (lpg) trucks on transit at the Namanga border, Kajiado county. The operation carried out by energy regulatory commission (erc) in collaboration with directorate of criminal investigations (dci) intercepted the trucks for further speculation. Twelve trucks loaded with lpg were intercepted. Ten of them did not have valid erc transportation license. One truck did not comply with national police service requirements. The erc are keen on pinning down all culprits involved in malpractices. the commission is set on curbing culprits importing and selling lpg that do not meet kenyan standards, transportation and whole sale of lpg in bulk without valid erc license, operation of unlicensed lpg storage and filling plants without brand owner and filling and sale of lpg cylinders that don’t meet kenyan standards.
