Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has said that a section of MPs refused to toe party lines and rejected proposals of the Finance Act 2018 during debate.

He said that MP successfully fought and won against the proposals that increased tax on multiple items including mobile talk-time, money transfer services and data.

He however said that impunity determined the vote despite enough MPs rejecting the proposals.
