71 illegal immigrants were today arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport while on transit to Oman. 

The arrest comes amidst heightened calls by Interior Cabinet Secretary DR. Fred Matiangi on the fight against illegal immigrants. 

Alexander Muteshi, the Director in the state department of immigration says that immigration officials at the airport detected the fake stamps used on the documents of the 59 Ugandan nationals, 7 Burundi nationals and 5 Tanzanian nationals. 

Muteshi further said that their respective embassies have been notified pending their deportation.
