In the recent past, cases of sexual harassment have been on the rise especially at the work place. Sexual harassment maybe in terms of sexual advances or conduct of a sexual nature hence interfering with the performance of a person's job or creates an unconducive, hostile, or offensive work environment.
Sexual harassment can range from persistent offensive sexual jokes or to inappropriate touching among other forms.
Sexual harassment at the work place is an issue that need to be addressed and dealt with appropriately and in accordance to the law. This according to the Standard Group PLC Human Resource Director Mr. Nicholas Siwatom.
Speaking exclusively to SDV, Mr. Siwatom said “Both men and women face sexual harassment, but women face more sexual harassment. In most organizations you will find that women are between the middle cadre and lower cadre. There are few women in top positions. If you are in the lower cadre in the organization you’re more susceptible to sexual harassment.”
He also retaliated on how to deal with sexual harassment at the work place that are helpful to anyone facing sexual harassment at the work place.
Mr Siwatom also points out the pros and cons of having sexual relationships at the work place citing reasons why some organizations adopt it and others do not.
