WATER COMPANY WRANGLES: MUWASCO in the verge of being dissolved

What was meant to be a colourful closing ceremony for water companies’ national games in Nyeri ended in a dramatic twist as various water companies demonstrated against what they called interference of water companies by the county governments. Citing a case where Murang’a water and sewerage company (MUWASCO) is on the verge of being dissolved by the county government, the national secretary of the Kenya county government workers union mitilda kimetto said they shall call for a nationwide strike should the county government of murang’a not stop playing politics with MUWASCO. The union called on other regulatory bodies such as was reb to intervene and save the company which has become too familiar with controversy and wrangles pitying Muranga Governor Mwangi wa Iria, MUWASCO board chair, Peter Munga and  engineer Ng’ang’a who has been sent on compulsory leave by the county government. The union also cited exploitation of wananchi by the county government through introduction of new water tariffs contrary to the tariffs given by water regulatory board (WASREB).
