The Kenya medical supplies agency (kemsa) has been challenged to check the increase of counterfeit and substandard medical drugs in the country. Chairman of the Mount Kenya University Dr. Simon Gicharu has warned that the problem is counter productive to the attainment of the big four agenda and will have negative effect on the national universal healthcare delivery programs. Gicharu has said the government needs to encourage multinational pharmaceutical companies to set shop in Kenya to help in the creation of jobs for graduates’ pursuing pharmaceutical studies.
