Murang'a County Conservationists now in agreement with Raila over Northern Water Tunnel

A section of conservationists from Murang’a want the multi?billion northern collector water tunnel project halted, claiming it could lead to the drying up of three major rivers in the region. The group points out that the project which is meant to augment water supply to Nairobi and other areas would end up draining Maragua, Irati and Gikigii rivers.  Conservator jimmy Kagoni of ‘save Abrades Rivers’ initiative which has been compiling a report of the project. Said the tunnel which is 80% complete will actually not be collecting flood water from the rivers as initially planned, but will be draining them.
