Five members of one family were on Thursday night killed in a grisly road accident along the Nyeri Nyahururu highway. 

The family was coming from a function in Nyeri when the accident happened at Kianugu area.

The personal car they were travelling in collided with a Nissan Matatu after their car got a tyre burst and rolled severally.

Occupants in the personal car among them two children, a man and two women died on the spot. 

Other passengers were referred to the Nyahururu County referral hospital with serious wounds.
