Kenyan Surgeon on spot for allegedly demanding Kshs. 150,000 before surgery

8th August, 2018

A pediatric Surgeon at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu is on the spot for allegedly demanding 150,000 shillings to carry out an operation on a four year old child who was sexually assaulted late last year. The hospital management says that it does not charge for surgical procedures of that nature, while promising to get the child attended at no cost. Meanwhile, the said surgeon has denied claims of his intention to fleece the child’s mother.
