Kitui County conducts first brain surgery

8th August, 2018

Kitui level IV hospital has for the first time conducted a successful brain surgery. The two hour long operation was led by neurosurgeon Samuel Njiru. The hospital thrives in modern facilities and the county government has been contracting the Nairobi based specialists from time to time to conduct surgeries. Speaking after visiting the brain operation patient Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu said the lifesaving surgery was timely, while raising concerns that the patient was in a too critical a condition and may not have survived had he been refreed elsewhere. Ngilu also stated that contracting a specialist is more effective than letting those seeking medication to travel elsewhere for help.
