Countering violent extremism through music

The office of the Inspector General of Police has partnered with schools across the country to reach out to the students with the aim of countering violent extremism through music.

The IG office has sponsored a number of classes in the ongoing music festivals from the zonal, sub-county, and region and to the national which will be staged in Nyeri. Speaking at the NEP technical institute in Garissa town where the provincial festivals are being staged, Alex Ndili from the IG's office in Nairobi said the decision was arrived at since music and art is a powerful tool that can easily pass the anti-radicalization message to the community.
