Several former and current senior managers of the Kenya Power Company are appearing in court to answer to corruption allegations in relation to the company's procurement procedures. The top officials were arrested over the weekend after the director of public prosecutions Noordin haji approved charges against them relating to two contracts or the procurement of transformers, which saw taxpayers lose millions of shillings. Also to be charged in court are Directors of Muwa trading company that supplied the transformers. Meanwhile, the Kenya Power board has suspended the company Managing Director Ken Tarus.
