Babu Owino to DP Ruto: Please wait for other political debts to be paid before yours

10th July, 2018

Deputy President William Ruto over the weekend rubbished claims that he is holding hostage the Mount Kenya region voters come 2022 presidential election, insisting that nobody owes him anything.

Speaking on Sunday at the All Saints Cathedral, Ruto made what political pundits have christened ‘bold remark’, when he said that “no person, no community, no section of Kenya owes anybody including myself anything.”

DP Ruto is banking on the region’s support to win the 2022 State House race, after he supported President Uhuru Kenyatta in both the 2013 and the subsequent 2017 general elections, in which the latter emerged victorious on both occasions.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has, however, awakened past political debts which he says are yet to be paid, stating that Ruto will have to wait for Raila Odinga to be paid his debts first.

According to the first-time lawmaker, if political debts were to be settled, then Ruto will have to wait for the debt between the then President Jomo Kenyatta and his deputy Jaramogi Odinga, and then that of former President Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga in 2002.
