A scientific expert has told a Mombasa court that the three ivory trader suspects, Luwani Katana Maina, Samson katana and bus to Thoya katana, who were arrested in possession of 2 elephant tusks and 2 buffalo tusks could be poachers specialising in the killing of young wildlife.

The expert said that after examining the seized ivory, it was evident that both were from a baby elephant and a baby buffalo. The ruling has been set on 26th of August. The poachers were arrested by the Kenya wildlife service at Changamwe roundabout while they trying to sell 2 elephant tusks and 2 buffalo horns weighing 0.5kg each with a street value of Ksh 700,000.
