The physically challenged members of public living in Isiolo County now have a reason to smile following the unveiling of a programme to supply them with modernized wheelchairs that will enhance their mobility and enable them to conduct small businesses like selling of commodities.
Speaking at Almasi home for the handicapped when he launched the programme, Isiolo county governor Mohamed Kuti said that the wheelchairs will not only ease movement for the physically challenged but also empower them economically as they can now conduct small businesses.
The special wheelchair has space for a cool box at the back. kuti lauded the initiative that has been rolled out through a partnership between the county government and Partners for Care who availed 186 wheelchairs, 40 crutches and 14 cool boxes all for a combined cost of kshs 18 million.
