The government has announced the registration process for all engineers and consultants involved in the construction of dams in the country. The move is meant to ensure that those involved in the construction are in the government database and will not contribute to loss of lives as witnessed in the recent Solai dam tragedy where 47 people perished after a dam burst its banks.
Speaking in Eldoret after overseeing the ongoing construction of Elgarini pipeline and expansion of Kapsoya treatment works supported by the world bank to a tune of sh600 million, water cabinet secretary Simon Chelugui said the government is firm in ensuring that all dams are safe. The CS was accompanied by Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago, area senator Margaret Kamar, MP William Chepkut and a host of water officials.
