Interior CS Fred Matiang'i gives foreign workers ultimatum

The government will not extend the 60 day notice for application of work permits for foreigners that is set to end on 21st of this month. Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangí reiterated this stand when he visited Nyayo House this morning to review the progress made in the verification and registration of work permits. at least 18,000 migrants have applied for work permits while 31 fake permits have been impounded. 3 brokers have so far been arrested. In May this year the Interior in charge refuted the number of registered foreigners putting it at more than 100, 000 against the then recorded 34,000. Matiangí also ordered those living in Kenya illegally to pay their deportation tickets, while indicating that the exercise costs Kenya about sh360m shillings annually.
