The Senate ad hoc committee on tea and Kericho leaders are petitioning treasury to reduce taxation on tea saying that tea farmers pay 42 different types of tax thus lowering their returns from the crop. Five senators, declared that they will address the plights of small?holder tea farmers through stiff recommendations in the report to be tabled in senate and handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta to ascent to. Among the issues on the table is the remission of a percentage of the 130 billion earned from tea annually to be put towards funding county directly.
