The national government in collaboration with development partners, the 3 counties of Garissa, Wajir and Mandera should heighten diseases surveillance for both livestock and human following the outbreak of the rift valley fever (RVF) in Eldas and wajir west sub?counties.
Addressing the press today in Garissa town, the chairman of the Kenya Livestock Marketing Council Dubat Amey said that the loss of human lives to RVF in Wajir should be urgently managed to stop the spread of the deadly virus.
The outbreak of the RVF in Wajir is an indication that the same is likely to break out in Garissa, Mandera and Isiolo because animals’ transverse these counties during dry spells.
