The auction that grossed more profit that Safaricom in a night

11th May, 2018

Safaricom declared their profits earlier on in the week, which was Sh 55 Billion. This is a considering feet, stamping their dominance in the Telcom market. On Tuesday prior to Safaricom’s profit declaration, a live auction was taking place at Rockefeller plaza far away in America. The auction was of artifacts owned by America’s first billionaire, David Rockefeller, who at the time of his death was worth $3.3 Billion. The artifacts were from the 19th and 20th Century. At the end of the night, the auction raised $646, which is equivalent to Sh65 Billion. This far surpasses the profits declared by Safaricom. The highest grossing artifacts on the night was of that of a Picasso art painting from an anonymous caller who did bid $115 Million.  With such numbers being declared off artifacts, it challenges the narrative here in Kenya that “Art does not pay”.
