ICPSK drive agenda for new thinking towards corporate governance-Business Today

9th April, 2018

The paradigm shift to integrated thinking has gained prominence to the extent that the international integrated reporting council (IIRC) was formed in August 2010. In the Kenyan context, both Mwongozo, the code of governance for state corporations and the capital markets authority's code of corporate governance practices for public listed companies to emphasize the need for both integrated reporting and stakeholders' management. The factors that are disclosed in the annual reports have an impact on value creation and sustainability of the business. With the recent events surrounding inadequacies in the private sector that have led to the collapse on retail chain Nakumatt banks like chase bank and imperial bank, there is need to push and emphasize the need for better corporate governance in the private sector. Leading this initiative is the ICPSK who is a government mandated organization that is working at ensuring this is done.
