Over 300 Bodaboda riders enroll for NHIF cover

A Boda Boda rider suspected to have run over and killed a senior police officer in Kericho has been arrested.
The suspect is said to have run over the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) stationed at Kapsoit police post who was at the time conducting a crackdown on boda boda operators at Kapsoit Trading centre killing him on the spot.

Witnesses said the Boda boda rider switched off the head lumps and over ran the deceased a long the Nakuru-Kericho highway.

Speaking on phone, Kericho County Police Commander, Mrs. Rose Muchuma said police officers acting on a tip off from members of the public arrested the suspect identified as Vincent Kipchirchir, a 22 year old man who at the time of the arrest was admitted at Tenwek Mission hospital after he attempted to commit suicide following the accident.

She said the suspect was arrested today at 10am at the hospital and will be arraigned in court to face murder charges.

“We have evidence indicating that the suspect killed OCS Samuel Mureithi and will be arraigned in court on Monday to face murder charges.” said Muchuma.
