KANU Mp has proposed to amend the constitution to provide for the position of the prime minister

27th February, 2018

In a surprising development, a KANU Mp has proposed to amend the constitution to provide for the position of the prime minister who will also serve as a member of the National assembly.  According to the draft bill, the prime minister will have full executive powers and be leader of government business.  In the proposed amendments, the position of the deputy president has been scrapped but the president shall retain ceremonial powers as head of state. if this goes through and jubilee retains control of parliament in 2022, William Ruto could be a president without any powers while Uhuru Kenyatta might actually come back as a powerful prime minister.
