Situation in Wajir after non-local teachers protest the killing of two by Al shabaab

Today we begin our broadcast by focusing on Kerio valley that may now call valley of death. Banditry attacks in the area have led to the loss of hundreds of lives and disruption of basic activities for the area residents. One person was killed last night in Saria village in Chepyuk in Mount Elgon in the latest banditry attack that has seen area residents call out on the government to protect the live of their people. Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i is expected to visit Chesegon and Kolowa Bridge in Kerio valley today. He will also attend security meetings in Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet following the closure of more than 50 schools. Elvis Kosgey will be attending that meeting.
