Okiya Omtatah challenges media switch off

5th February, 2018

After a weeklong television blackout in the country, two of the TV stations that were shut down last week are finally back on air. The communication authority this afternoon instructed all signal carriers to restore the broadcasts of KTN news and NTV. The authority however remains mum on the fate of citizen and Inooro TV stations. This move came only hours after activist Okiya Omtata filed contempt of court charges against  interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i and senior officials of the communications authority accused of defying a Friday court order to re-open the four TV stations.
