History of media crackdown in Kenya

3rd February, 2018

The Jubilee administration has not shied away from showing its dislike for the free media.  The current shutdown of KTN News, NTV, citizen and Inooro television is not the first under Jubilee. In 2015, the targeted media houses were viciously fought and had to switch off in a standoff with thE communication Authority of Kenya during the controversial digital migration.  This time around, the government crackdown has been followed by a desire to arrest journalists for the Tuesday live coverage of the swearing in of national super alliance leader Raila Odinga as people’s president.
