John Munyes nominated petroleum and mining CS fighting other battles in his Turkana county

27th January, 2018

John Munyes who has been nominated for the position of cabinet secretary for petroleum and mining was for the better part of yesterday fighting other battles in his Turkana county. Munyes who vied for the position of governor for Turkana County was in court yesterday seeking to have a votes recount and scrutiny of the votes. His application was however dismissed. Nanok was last year declared winner in the August 8 general elections after garnering 73,913 votes against Mr.  Munyes who got 53,306 votes. High court judge Stephen Riech dismissed the application to conduct manual scrutiny, audit, recount and re-tallying of votes cast in 143 named polling stations ruling that the application had no merit and therefore null and void. Munyes was represented in the case by lawyer Katwa Kigen.
