Tharaka Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki has ordered a crackdown on illegal betting joints in the county in an effort to tame its rise. He says it is unfortunate that betting was making many youths in the area to become addicts. He has asked his deputy Eng. Francis Kagwima to spearhead the raids. Speaking in Kanwa, the governor observed that gambling was negatively affecting education for the youths. Many students he said were dropping out of school because of the betting.
