Two candidates in the Wiper race to replace former member of parliament for Kitui West, the late Francis Nyenze, have cast their votes in a nomination excercise that has been criticised for the manner in which it is being conducted. Nyenze's widow Edith Veth is battling it out with Nairobi businessman Maluki Kitili who is the son of former minister Nyiva Mwendwa. Vethi has decried lack of an official IEBC register in identifying voters. So far those who have turned up are being listed in a manually generated regiter using their national identity and voting cards. The by-election is slated for march 26th this year.
