Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has a launched a clean up exercise in abid to rid the county of dirt. The governor however blamed poor garbage collection by his administration on budget constraints that had led to a go slow by county workers.The county boss while launching the clean-up drive in nyeri town said that workers’ salaries which had been delayed due to late disbursement of funds had been settled and efforts to rid the county of dirt stepped up. He  also ordered daily collection of garbage in the county and promised to ensure that the number of litter bins in the county are increased as only four are serving the entire town.
