EALA members set to elect speaker as setback coming from Tanzania and Burundi: News Desk
The regional parliament failed to elect a speaker yesterday after the session was boycotted by Tanzania and Burundi. This was only the first day of sittings following a long suspension caused by Kenya’s row over nominees. Members are demanding that the two countries withdraw their candidates for the position of the speaker so that the post can rotate to other countries.
