Sportpesa have taken over as the new sponsors of the Kenya rugby 7s team following the end of previous contract between Kenya rugby union and Kenya airways. The new 5 year contract worth 607 million shillings was unveiled Tuesday in Nairobi. Sportpesa continues to grow its sports portfolio with their new partnership, the Kenya rugby union, the new deal is expected to take effect next month. With this deal in place, players who were developing cold feet due to unpaid bonuses will now be assured of their pay. The deal will cover all the national teams including Kenya sevens, Kenya lionesses, Kenya Chipu, Kenya sevens academy and Kenya Simba’s. The 2016/2017 season of the HSBC world rugby seven series shall see the Kenya sevens team wear jerseys bearing the Sportpesa name.
