The 2016 Kenya premier league season came to an end on Saturday as tusker fc were officially crowned champions after their 1-0 victory over Gor Mahia. The brewers garnered 61 points after 30 matches, four points above 15 time champions Kogalo with Ulinzi stars, Posta rangers, Chemelil sugar, Western Stima, Mathare united and Kakamega Homeboyz completing the top half of the table and securing a spot in the KPL top 8 tournament next season. There was however drama during the last day of the season as Sofapaka survived relegation by a whisker after thrashing Thika united 5-1 to leapfrog Ushuru fc, who will play in the second tier next season
