KTN Prime: Relief food purchased by Samburu County rots while still in storage as drought intestifys

17th November, 2016

In a rather strange twist to the tale of drought and hunger, relief food purchased by the Samburu county government for distribution to famine stricken areas has been declared unfit for human consumption. According to the governor, the government chemist announced that the 8,000 bags of maize bought from the national cereals and produce board were all unfit for human consumption. The NCPB Maralal deport manager Kipngetich Mutui however denied the claims saying they have not received any official communication about the government chemist results. According to national drought management authority, more than 54, 000 residents from Samburu east and north were facing severe hunger with the number increasing by the day.
