Youngsters in the country aspiring to be the top basketball players will get a chance beginning next year to learn from top coaches and former NBA players; this is after NBA Africa launched the NBA junior league in Kenya. The project is set to boost grassroots basketball in the country as the league will target teenagers in the country. Kenya was identified as one of the five priority countries in Africa that were targeted for development of basketball in the continent. Currently NBA is already running similar competitions in eight countries across Africa with twelve million players currently taking part.us ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec said his office will be giving a grant of i million Kenya shillings to the project .
