The Nairobi securities exchange (NSE) in conjunction with smart-youth, KASNEB and NIC securities today awarded winners of the 2016 NSE investment challenge. This year’s winner Franklin Mutua, walked away with a cash price of 300,000 Kenyan shillings after making a 1.8 million Kenyan shillings profit from the virtual startup capital worth 3 million Kenyan shillings, invested in the NSE’s real time information system. First runners up, Joshua Munyao from Kenyatta University won 150,000 Kenyan shillings. Winners walked away with cash prices based on their research on reasons to trade as well as their participation in the securities’ discussion forums. speaking during the awards ceremony at the exchange house in Nairobi, the C.E.O. of NSE Geoffrey Odundo said that the challenge has educated over 100,000 youth and winners have the opportunity of receiving internships at the NSE, NIC securities, Kasneb and smart youth.
